Welcome to Fearless Dyslexia! I'm Susanna, a highly experienced APC Dyslexia Assessor serving the Bath & Bristol area. I also provide online assessments across the UK. My passion is helping to remove the 'fear' often associated with dyslexia, empowering individuals and families to embrace the unique strengths and talents that come with this different way of thinking. Together, we can turn challenges into opportunities for growth and success.
I take a holistic approach to each assessment, gathering detailed background information to provide a comprehensive understanding. Combined with the dyslexia assessment, this enables me to create a thorough, personalised report that highlights both strengths and areas of difficulty, along with tailored recommendations to support your needs.Click below to explore the types of assessments I offer.
Dyslexia affects at least 10% of the population and is often associated with challenges in reading and writing, but its impact goes far beyond that. It can influence how long it takes to complete tasks, memory retention, organisational skills, math abilities, and more—sometimes leading to frustration. However, dyslexia also brings unique strengths, such as creative problem-solving, out-of-the-box thinking, and a fresh perspective on learning.
Fearless Dyslexia provides a variety of dyslexia support services in Bath, the surrounding areas, and online. Our services include early literacy assessments, full dyslexia assessments and exam access arrangements. We also offer professional workplace dyslexia training plus dyslexia technology support, helping to create more inclusive and supportive environments.
With 20 years of experience in education across both state and private systems, I have served as a class teacher and SENCO before specialising as a Dyslexia Teacher and Assessor.I am a fully SASC registered dyslexia assessor and hold an Assessment Practising Certificate (APC). While the APC is not mandatory, it reflects my commitment to maintaining high standards and staying current with assessment procedures.Because I hold an active APC, my reports confirming a diagnosis of dyslexia can be utilised when applying for Disability Student Allowance (DSA) in higher education. Additionally, I recommend further assessments at different educational stages to adapt to evolving learning needs.

Dyslexia Assessments for children & adults:A dyslexia assessment includes a series of tests and activities designed to evaluate underlying abilities, cognitive skills, and areas of attainment. After the assessment, you will receive a detailed report highlighting strengths and vulnerabilities, along with personalised recommendations, including any necessary access arrangements.Early Literacy Assessment to inform intervention:For younger children (generally ages 5-7) who are facing challenges in accessing the curriculum but are not yet ready for a full dyslexia assessment, we offer a specialised assessment. This assessment includes many of the same tests as a full dyslexia assessment, but no formal diagnosis is provided, and the reports are more concise. However, there is still a substantial section dedicated to tailored recommendations for support. What is an online (remote) dyslexia assessment and how does it work?Remote dyslexia assessments utilise the same tests as in-person assessments, allowing you to complete the process from the comfort of your home. These assessments are conducted by myself via the Zoom platform. Recent research and my own experience show that remote assessments are increasingly popular, as they provide the flexibility for more breaks and allow you to choose a dyslexia assessor that best meets your needs, regardless of location.
